Our Story

our story

A tradition since 1955 when Joseph and Elizabeth Davis opened Ches-Pen Donuts at 7th and Ford St. in Bridgeport, PA. As their business grew and gained popularity, in 1962 they decided to move to their present location at 49 E. Fourth St. At that time they also decided to rename their business after their two daughters, Suzanne and Joanne. Thus the name Suzy-Jo was born.

Joseph became ill in 1980 and could no longer work. With Elizabeth at the helm and with the help of her son Joey a family friend Judy Nagrant and Joanne eventually stepping to help, the business remained intact. Joseph Davis passed away in 1985. In 2001 Elizabeth was ready to retire. To keep the business family owned, Joanne along with her husband Ray and their daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mike Volpe, took over the business. Since then they have opened two satellite stores. In 2004 they opened a store in Royersford, PA at 61 S. Lewis Rd. and in 2015 opened one at 205 W Germantown Pike. We have since moved our Royersford location up the street to Limerick, at 301 N. Lewis Rd, behind Diary Queen and next to the Peanut Bar. A big THANK YOU to our past, present and new customers, without your loyalty, we would not be in business.
